Summer is on its last leg, so now is the perfect time to savor the vibrant colors of the season! And Marcella and Alex brought a perfect summer color palette to the University of Chicago the other weekend! I loved the mix of corals, pinks and oranges and the pops of teal throughout the florals, dresses and decor – all of which was executed perfectly by Blue Fancy Events!
Both the ceremony and reception took place at the beautiful Ida Noyes Hall at the University of Chicago, where Marcella attended college. With stunning Gothic architecture and ivy-lined walls, this location has a charming, almost English vibe to it. We strolled around the campus for portraits, being sure to stop by the bridge over Botany Pond where, legend has it, if you kiss, you’ll be together forever!
Marcella and Alex wrote their own vows for the ceremony – something I absolutely LOVE to see couples do! It was so touching hearing their promises to each other and hearing their excitement for marrying each other. I mean, Marcella’s smile after Alex’s vows is the most genuine expression of happiness I think I’ve ever seen (you’ll know exactly which photo I mean when you see it below!).
After a lively cocktail hour around the grounds, the party moved indoors to the Cloister Club, where the tables were decked out with tall statement centerpieces and twinkly candles. The space is absolutely gorgeous, with lots of old-world charm. And their cake. Y’all – just wait til you see it! Cascading coral flowers and an subtle ombre base put a summery spin on a traditional white tiered cake and I loved it!
Marcella and Alex, it was an honor to celebrate this special day with you! Congratulations and enjoy these highlights!
